We have just returned from a training day at a ‘secret location’, which turned out to be a rather nice hotel in London. It was great to meet up with friends from like-minded practices from around the country.
We learned lots of new skills which ranged from folding T shirts (ask us about this when you are next in store!) to delivering exceptional service.

Unique Eye-glasses!

We are excited to unveil a truly unique collection of hand made Italian frames from designer Pierro Massaro.
When you look at glasses a lot, which we do, you realise how many people own EXACTLY the same frames!
With Pierro Massaro, only 100 of each frame design is produced and each frame is individually numbered. There is amazing technology in the screw-less hinge which allows you to change the colour of the arms if you so wish. Your Pierro Massaro glasses will be as unique and individual as you are!
The amazing thing about Pierro Massaro frames is that they have bright and interesting colours, yet they are ‘easy’ to wear. The secret is rhodoïd – a plastic material which comes from plant matter, not petrol, and allows amazing colour with a magical transparency.

Theo Eyewear Fun

Many thanks to all those who attended our trunk show. Theo eyewear makes us smile and it was great to see so many smiling faces at our event!

Theo eyewear started in 1989. What began as a memo on an order form has developed into the slogan for the most headstrong Belgian brand of spectacles: ‘theo loves you’. To this very day the motto connects everything theo does, every decision, every collection. It was the love for their clients that made Wim Somers and Patrick Hoet, opticians with their own store, decide to design and present a collection under the name of theo. Why? Well, simple: because they wanted to offer their clients something other than the mainstream glasses that were selling at the time.

'1st pair of glasses stress'....completely disappeared when I chose to walk in this beautiful store I had passed hundreds of times when in Town - I had scoured the 'big chains' (because that's what you do, isn't it?!), all so frustratingly 'similar' - not so at Grey St, such an original and stunning selection of frames.The 'independent' nature of Grey St reflects in their amazing staff, and Becks (now my Ocular Guru!) is just excellent. She took her time with the 'rookie', got my thoughts on some styles, and I loved the "Give me 5 minutes..." as she went 'out back' and returned with Exactly what I had wanted to achieve!She made the collection, only days later, such a wonderful experience too and the 'skull grip' fitting I had hoped for was truly bespoke and perfect. In hindsight, that I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process speaks volumes...Becks, thank you so much!

Grey St Independent Opticians is very much like the Apple Store of opticians. Clean, simple, excellent customer service & more importantly fast and efficient after sales maintenance/repair services.All in all they take good care of their customers, with a huge curated catalogue of frames and lenses options. Not to mention the thinnest lenses on the market for someone like myself with a high prescription, this is definitely an important factor when purchasing glasses, couldn’t recommend them more!

I always find picking glasses very stressful, however this wasn’t the case at Grey’s. The staff (Becks) are lovely and were brilliant at helping be pick out a suitable pair. Second time I got a frame from this optician. LAURA gave me excellent advice and got a very good selection of glasses out of her draws, fitting what i was looking for.The service was knowledgeable, personable, patient and professional.This shop is highly recommended.I also got an eye-check by Nick (?). Had an unexpected but pleasant experience at Grey St Opticians. It's been a while since I got my last eye test but was made to feel comfortable throughout. Nick explained the tests and health checks that were being done, which were both informative and interesting.Huge appreciation to Frederike in helping me choose new frames. I only gave one preference in the form, but she put together a nice selection of similar styles to try on, and even went beyond to suggest shapes I wouldn't have considered. The frame range is extensive and some were very bold and fun to explore. I appreciate her patience (despite me trying possibly 30 frames during the session) and honesty in which styles suit me and which didn't.Also the interior design of the store is very minimalistic and beautiful.Thank you again for the warm and personal experience. Highly recommend to anyone who needs an eye test or new frames, you can't get any better service than this.

I was well overdue an eye test & I am so happy I chose to go to Grey Street. The eye test itself was really thorough and did not feel rushed at all which is something I have experienced in the past. Nic also explained all the tests he was performing and why which was really interesting.It's a beautiful space with some amazing niche frames (all sourced from lovely independent brands which are dotted all over the place).When it came to picking the frames Frederike was so helpful and with me having no idea what type of frame I wanted, I was very grateful for the help in choosing what I can only describe as my dream glasses. The most thorough eye exam I've had, with clear explanations and wonderful service from Nic; I felt in very good hands. Frederike was a tremendous help with choosing my frames and lenses. Grey St Opticians are fantastic. Everyone who works there knows their stuff. My first pair of glasses from them lasted me 10 years. On my recent visit I tried on about 40 pairs of glasses ... And ended up buying the first pair that Becks had handpicked for me! And how’s this for customer service: when I was choosing my glasses, my daughter mentioned in passing that her fifth birthday was coming up soon. When I went back to get my glasses fitted, Becks had a birthday card waiting for her. Wow. Great customer experience. I happily recommend Grey St Opticians to anyone who’ll listen! Recently picked up my new glasses from Grey St Optician's which are absolutely gorgeous! As someone who has been wearing glasses for 15 years, the experience of picking out my new frames was absolutely the best time I've ever had at an opticians'. Becks was simply AMAZING to have, listening to my preferences and picking out frames for me she thought I'd like. AND she let me know when frames were too narrow or if she liked one pair over another - I loved getting helpful thoughts of another person who wears glasses. I have heard about Grey St. Optician just by searching in the internet and I’m very glad I have come across them. The staff are very hospitable, professional and they offer service with personal touch. Never had my eyes checked as thorough as they did, they even scanned my eyes. Helped me find the perfect frame and lenses and they are very patient with me as it was very difficult deciding which one as they have a huge range of frames to choose from. They have Loads of artistic and unique frames. If you are looking for frames with character and uniqueness, best place to go to. Worth every penny.

Upmarket opticians that my partner uses.Very friendly and helpful.Professional, very knowledgable and trustworthy.I don’t wear glasses and can see that they provide a great service.Located near Grey’s monument and monument metro station at the top of Grey Street.
