We’re a small team of optical experts, and we have been open since 2007. You can find Grey St. Optician in the heart of Newcastle-upon-Tyne: at the top of Grey Street, beneath the iconic Grey’s Monument.
We carry a carefully-curated selection of the very best independent eyewear. We source our brands from around the work, and our team hand-selects each frame in our collection. We will take time to get to know you and your requirements and we’ll hand-pick frames based on your taste, personality and lifestyle.

As an independent optician, we can offer lenses from all leading lens suppliers, including Seiko, Marma and Tokai. We can customise your lenses with tints, photochromic treatments and special coatings. We also offer the thinnest plastic lenses in the world, so if you have a complex prescription, Grey St. Optician can help!
Eye Exams at Grey St. Optician
A comprehensive Eye Examination at Grey St. Optician includes OCT and Retinal imaging.
The appointment will last 45-60minutes, so there is plenty of time to explain your results and discuss any concerns with your optometrist.
Aftercare Service
At Grey St. Optician we offer ongoing, personalised care. We invite all clients to attend follow-up Eyewear Care appointments. At this appointment we will fully-service your spectacles; assessing the fit and performance. This ensures they remain comfortable and working perfectly for you.
