Grey St. Optician now offer an even more advanced eye examination with the introduction of OCT. Many eye conditions are treatable if detected early enough and with this fantastic technology we can detect eye problems up to 5 years earlier than a standard examination. This allows early treatment and can save sight.

How does it work? Optical coherence tomography is an imaging technique using light waves to take cross sectional, 3D pictures of your retina. Where traditional retinal photography looks at the surface of the retina, OCT looks underneath the surface! The images have a real wow factor, and can be likened to an MRI scan or X ray.

Is it painful or harmful? No, OCT is a non invasive test with no known side effects or complications.

We will take time to carefully explain the results of your OCT scan and any other tests which we may have performed. To make the eye test as relaxed, comfortable and informative as possible, we have extended our eye test appointments to 40 minutes.

If you would like to book an OCT scan, even if you have had a recent eye test, please get in touch via the contact us page. We will show you your eyes in a way that you have never seen before!
